What is the best time of day to practice Tai Chi?

The best time of day to practice Tai Chi is the time of day that works best for your schedule.

How often should I practice Tai Chi?

Practice Tai Chi every day, even if it's only for a few minutes. Consistent practice is more important than long practice sessions, and over time you'll naturally begin applying Tai Chi principles throughout your daily life.

Which Tai Chi form should I learn?

There are many styles of Tai Chi Chuan, including Yang, Chen, Wu, Wu (Hao), and Sun. Visit a few schools, observe a class, and choose the style and teacher that best fit your goals and learning style.

YouTube can be a helpful way to see the differences between styles, but I recommend learning from a qualified instructor whenever possible.

Can I learn Tai Chi online?

The best way to learn Tai Chi is from a qualified teacher in-person.

What kind of Tai Chi shoes should I wear?

I mostly wear my comfortable sneakers when practicing Tai Chi. What you wear when practicing Tai Chi should be determined by the texture of the floor you are practicing on.

What type of clothes or uniform do I wear when practicing Tai Chi?

Loose, comfortable clothing allows you to move naturally without restriction. In my experience, it also helps me relax and better experience the flow of chi during practice.


Practice

Can I lift weights and learn Tai Chi?

From my experience, yes. Strength training combined with Tai Chi is one of life's gifts to better health and longevity.

Can I listen to music while practicing Tai Chi?

Yes. I listen to relaxing meditative music all the time when practicing Tai Chi. Meditative music puts me in a relaxed state of mind.

Even though Tai Chi is an internal art, you should always be aware of your surroundings. 

Can you practice Tai Chi 24/7?

Tai Chi isn't limited to the time you spend practicing the form. Throughout the day you can apply its principles by improving your posture, relaxing unnecessary tension, moving from your center, breathing more mindfully, and responding calmly to everyday situations.

Do I need to learn Tai Chi for self-defense?

Although many people practice Tai Chi for its health benefits, understanding the martial applications of each movement can deepen your knowledge of the art and improve your movements.

Which is better for you Tai Chi or Qigong?

Tai Chi is a form of moving Qigong. Both Tai Chi and Qigong will give you similar health benefits.
