BETTER. BECAUSE YOU WANT TO BE.™

This is the story behind the words.

Some of the most important lessons in life aren't learned in a classroom.

They're quietly passed from one generation to the next.

When I was young, my father gave me a simple metal button. It wasn't expensive or elaborate. It was the kind with a straight pin on the back, and across the front were words that have stayed with me my entire life:

Better. Because You Want to Be.™

I pinned it to the middle of my wooden bedroom door, where it greeted me every morning and reminded me every night before I went to sleep.

A Daily Reminder

As I lay in bed each evening, those few simple words became part of my life.

They reminded me that becoming better wasn't about competing with anyone else or trying to be perfect. It was about choosing to improve myself a little every day while keeping a positive outlook on life.

That simple message inspired me to exercise, take care of my health, and keep moving forward—even when life wasn't easy.

Looking back, I truly believe those words helped shape the person I became.

They became more than a saying. They became a way of living.

A Philosophy That Never Left

Many years have passed since then, but the meaning has never changed.

Whenever life becomes challenging, I still return to those words.

Better. Because You Want to Be.™

Not because someone expects it.

Not because you're trying to impress anyone.

But because becoming a better person is a choice we make every day.

How It Connects to Tai Chi Daily

That same philosophy is one of the foundations of Tai Chi Daily.

Tai Chi isn't about perfection. It's about showing up, practicing consistently, and becoming a little better each day—in your balance, your health, your patience, your mindset, and your character.

You don't have to be perfect.

You just have to keep practicing.

One small improvement today becomes another tomorrow.

Over time, those small choices can transform your life.

That's what Better. Because You Want to Be.™ has always meant to me.

It's a simple philosophy, but one that has guided me throughout my life.

If it inspires even one person to become a little better today than they were yesterday, then my father's gift continues to live on.
